Marine Services
In 1932, Marine Section was formed with the RCMP takeover of Department of National Revenue Preventive Services’ duties and vessels. With 35 ships (11 seagoing craft), its primary duty was to curtail smuggling in the Gulf of St. Lawrence and on the east and west coasts.

In Ontario the Marine Division of the R.C.M.P. entered "0" Division waters in 1946, stationing police boats at Sarnia and Windsor. Later other vessels saw service at Hamilton and Niagara Falls. Police Boat Shaunavon arrived in Toronto during June, 1948 where she saw service until 1956. In May of that year this vessel was replaced by the P/B Shaunavon II. In 1972, Shaunavon II was decommissioned and replaced by Patrol Vessel Many Berries. At present "Marine Services" operate Patrol Vessels in Sarnia and Windsor, as well as Toronto and play a vital support role to land operations, by enforcing the Small Vessels Regulations, Customs Act and Migratory Birds Convention Act.
